Historically, autoimmune diseases have been only related to white people, with the exception of black people. This does not mean that black people cannot suffer from autoimmune diseases, in fact most cases of SLE/Lupus an autoimmune disease have been reported mainly amongst black people, including those in African specifically Uganda. Therefore, we established this project in order to raise awareness a the discrimination that black patients with autoimmune diseases, especially those in Uganda, face within the health sector, given the fact that they are denied tests due to their colour leading to many misdiagnosed health conditions and diseases within the country, moreover, at the expense of the patients health.
