Derrick is a person with lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and a lawyer with a bachelor of laws from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, with 8 years of experience in the non-profit sector. Derrick is also the founder and director of Might Foundation. He previously worked with United Nations Volunteer (UNV)- Sri-Lanka as a mentor, Southern and East African Trade, Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI)-Uganda as a communications and documentation officer, Ag assistant program officer (Under multi-lateral and bilateral trade negotiations and multi-lateral trade systems) and as a volunteer, and Centre for Health Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) and Kabanda and Company Advocates as a volunteer and intern. Derrick believes in enhancing the rights and freedoms of minorities, therefore he is committed to raising their voices at the village, national and global level, particularly youth, girls, women, persons with disabilities like people with lupus and refugees.
Mpagi Dawn Martha, born on August 12, 2002, in the city of Kampala, Uganda, is a dedicated individual currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations at St. Lawrence University in Uganda’s Rubaga division.
Martha serves as the Executive Director at Might Foundation. Previously, she demonstrated her leadership as the Assistant Project Manager at the Twegatte Youth Project’s Social Impact initiative. Here, she played a role in addressing the pressing issue of online violence against women and girls and contributing to the development of the Health Angels mobile app which will be used raise awareness on domestic violence against young women and girls, especially child marriages and teenage pregnancies.
Martha’s passion for community engagement shines through her efforts in mobilizing young men, women, and girls for village accountability dialogues. Her involvement extended beyond mere mobilization; she actively participated in organizing these dialogues and surveys.
In the realm of diplomacy, Martha not only excels academically but also actively contributes to impactful projects. Her commitment to community well-being extends to addressing online violence against women and organizing village accountability dialogues.
Ssempala Robin is a dedicated and ambitious accounting professional from Uganda currently pursuing ACCA. She graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration majoring in accounting and finance.
Robin works as an accountant at Might foundation, a non-partisan, Ugandan non-government organization, focused on peace, human rights and sustainable development as an accountant, where she is responsible for ensuring financial transparency, donor fund tracking and supporting community driven projects. At Might foundation, Robin demonstrates exceptional integrity, diligence and commitment to ethical financial practices that align with both ACCA standards and organizational goals.
Her passion lies in building efficient, accountable financial systems for non-profit and empowering marginalized communities through responsible financial stewardship.
Fauziasuffers from systemic lupus and a combination of connective tissue disorders since 2015. She holds a masters degree in Environmental Engineering with nearly 3 years of laboratory experience conducting research about application of nanotechnology in environmental remediation from East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) Shanghai, China 2017. Previously during her research, she attended an international conference in environmental chemistry of iron at Tongji University Shanghai, China as a team representative for National Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Environmental Risk Assessment and Control on Chemical Processes, ECUST Shanghai 2016. In her specialty of Water and Wastewater treatment, she has published some research articles.
Fauzia worked as a laboratory technician in oil and gas industry with CNOOC -Enertech Uganda in 2017 under a short-term contract.
She also holds a certificate of proficiency in Chinese language from Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing China 2009, and has recently assisted at various companies by translating Chinese to English.
Fauzia is self-driven, highly motivated, very concerned about our environment and how environmental pollution impacts people’s health especially lupus patients. She loves team work, very eager to learn and to contribute knowledge towards research related to managing lupus and other autoimmune diseases that have so far remained a challenge to many medical experts across the globe.
Patience is a person with Systemic lupus Erythematous manifesting as lupus nephritis and discoid lupus pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree at Uganda Christian University, Uganda. She interned with Ligomarc Advocates and is a law student, a lupus warrior and advocate. She is dedicated to leveraging her legal knowledge to support fellow patients navigating complex legal issues both nationally and globally. Through her involvement with Might Foundation, she aims to provide guidance, resources, and empowerment to those affected by lupus, while advancing her own expertise in law.
